Miskâsowin Healing & Community Centre

Miskâsowin Healing & Community Centre draws inspiration from the birch tree, a sacred symbol of elders, medicine, storytelling, and art, to create a space that nurtures connection, healing, and renewal.

At Miskâsowin, the name itself—meaning "finding oneself" in Cree—reflects our commitment to guiding individuals on their journey of personal healing and rediscovery. Through the integration of traditional Cree healing practices and modern medical support, we strive to help individuals reconnect with their culture and identity, rediscover their inner strength, and navigate the path toward lasting wellness.

Our goal is to create a space that acknowledges the importance of both physical and spiritual health, empowering each individual to heal in a way that is authentic and meaningful to their life and community.

Our mission is to provide a healing space that honors the wisdom of traditional Cree healing practices while supporting them with modern medical care. In Miskâsowin Healing & Community Centre, we are dedicated to fostering a community where individuals can reconnect with their cultural roots, embrace healing through ceremony, and find strength in their identity. By offering support for mood disorders, substance abuse, and PTSD, we aim to empower the Cree community with the tools for self-discovery, resilience, and wellness, all within a space that is safe, nurturing, and rooted in cultural understanding.

Miskâsowin Healing & Community Centre draws inspiration from the birch tree, a sacred symbol of elders, medicine, storytelling, and art, to create a space that nurtures connection, healing, and renewal. The design incorporates natural materials and organic forms to reflect the birch tree's strength and resilience, fostering a deep connection to the land. The Medicine Wheel serves as a guiding philosophy, symbolizing the interconnectedness of mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Rooted in Cree values, Miskâsowin is a place for individuals to reconnect with their identity, find balance, and heal through ancestral knowledge and traditions.
